Helen, Princess of Greece and Denmark, wife of King Carol II of Romania, was born on 2 May 1896, at Athens. She was the eldest daughter of King Constantine I of Greece and of Queen Sophie of Prussia. From his father side, she was a descendant of Chaterine the Great of Russia and related to Queen Victoria of Great Britain from her mother side.
The young shy but educated girl, who loved the imitative arts, literature and music married in 1921 Prince Carol, the son of Romania’s Kings, Ferdinand and Marie. The young couple established in Romania and on 25 October 1921, Mihai, their son is born in the Foisor castle, in Sinaia.
According to the royal family traditions, Helen get involved in social and charity projects, she puts the basis of a medical project together with the Red Cross from Paris, sustains the national Orthodox Church and the other cults institutions
